The Office of Forensic Auditing, Evaluation and Analysis (JE) reviews and evaluates presumptive and/or current fraudulent and/or criminal activities through the use of forensic auditing skills, tools, techniques, and methodologies; analyzes and evaluates GSA’s programs and operations through management and programmatic inspections and evaluations, and; is responsible for the quality assurance function of the OIG.

    The incumbent of the position will serve as an Information Technology Specialist. As such, he/she will be required to complete training that will provide experience, knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. This position will allow for training, growth and opportunity.

    This vacancy is open to recent graduates (See Qualifications). Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.

    This is an upward mobility developmental position. The work at the levels advertised allow for growth and development through training and mentoring.


    For the GS-05: Completion of at least 4 years above the high school level or a bachelor’s degree with major study in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems, and provided knowledge required to a major in the computer field.

    For the GS-07: Successful completion of at least one year of graduate level education. This education must have provided the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position; OR Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

    NOTE: Transcripts and/or documentation supporting S.A.A. must be submitted at time of application; OR, a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education.

    ELIGIBLE VETERANS WHO APPLY TO “RECENT GRADUATE” VACANCIES: The 2-year period of eligibility will be extended for veterans who are precluded from applying within the two-year window, as defined in par. 5.(a)(1), due to a military service obligation. In such cases, veterans will have up to 2 years from the date of discharge or release from active duty to apply for the Recent Graduates Program, but eligibility cannot extend for more than 6 years after the date on which the individual completed his or her educational requirements.

    Certifications and/or degrees should be from accredited schools where the major is in information technology, computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

    Applicants who have met the BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT and have a certification in programming language and/or database management are preferred.

If you have graduated within the past 30 days and your transcripts have not yet been updated to include your graduation date, you must also include your graduation date, including both month and year, on your resume, or provide a letter from your college or university with your graduation date.     CTAP/ICTAP QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals who have special priority selections rights under the GSA’s Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be rated well qualified to receive priority selection consideration. An applicant under this priority consideration MUST submit the required documentation outlined in the Required Documents section of this vacancy announcement, including documentation certifying their STATUS as ICTAP or CTAP. Applicants eligible for CTAP/ICTAP will be considered well qualified if they have a score of 85.     Education Documentation: Submit a copy of your transcripts to be used in meeting qualification requirements, a college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
